1. When he learned that her parents didn't know he's black.
So, at this stage in the game, you have yet to discover the shoe box that contained the catalogue of other only-black-boyfriends, so you think you're the first and only black man this adorable white girl is bringing home to meet mommy and daddy. Upon learning that they had yet to be informed of the very obvious reality that there is a swirl going on, Chris needed to had slowed down that speeding train. Not because he's racist. Not even because they'd be racist. But because you don't know if they would be or not. A black man out in some unfamiliar woods isn't the most peaceful thought, and if her parents weren't going to be happy about this love connection, then the potential consequences could reek of the nostalgic fragrance strange fruit.
2. When Walter runs at him in the middle of the night.
That's pretty self-explanatory. Big, giant, weird black man barrels toward you in the pitch black while you're trying to get a cigarette break - and you just go back to bed? Granted, he said he didn't know if he was dreaming or not, but that was too odd to brush off. Bye!
3. When Rose's mom "sinks" him over a light game of "to the sunken place" aka hypnosis.
Being hypnotized against your will is very invasive. This woman got into your head, your heart, and your psyche and SANK YOU! Easily. Minimal effort. To tell Rose the next morning, "I think your mom hypnotized me last night" just isn't enough. You were already lightweight weirded out by the environment. Then you see Walter running directly toward you full speed just 10 minutes before, and then her mother violates your privacy and SINKS YOU during your unauthorized hypnosis. Those bags should've been packed, and Rose was either going to be in the car with you or she was gonna be tasting dust as you sped away.
4. When his phone kept coming up unplugged.
One time, okay fine. We've all experienced thinking we plugged in our phone and then to our anguish - no juice! But the feeling of someone intentionally unplugging you can create some serious feelings of hostility - especially piled on top of all of the other stuff that had been going on. He also had already been so confused by Georgina, that to be suspecting she's doing it on purpose, and she's staying right in the next room - GET OUT! Go. Call yourself an uber, you got somewhere to be!
5. When he realized that he knew Logan.
Logan lunging at him was crazy... no doubt. And after being middle-weight accosted, I know would've wanted to go home. But the thing that would've sent me packing was the moment I realized I knew dude. By this point, so much had already happened, that at that point there's nothing left for me in that house! I know there's also the effort to make a good impression, but at that moment, it's so much less about Rose and her family, and so much more about perplexing interactions with every single black person he's come in contact with.
These are just a FEW of mine. What are some of your "Chris GET OUT of there!" moments?
